Many of our students will undertake placements as part of their course. Social work students and youth and community work students have to undertake placements as part of the requirements for professional recognition. Health and well being students have an option in their third year to undertake a community health placement with Person Shaped Support (PSS).
To support students on placement we have a dedicated placement officer in the Department. Nicki Blundell is a very experienced qualified social worker and has succeeded in placing all our social work students in relevant placements - and on time - over the last four years that she has been in post.
Our students will have placement opportunities in a range of voluntary, NHS and local authority settings. We have placements in children and family related settings, mental health work, older people placements, disability projects, refugee and asylum support settings, gender violence and youth work.
