I began my career as a Secondary Religious Education and drama teacher in Croydon. I  then went on to be head of RE and Drama departments in three different schools before joining the Croydon Advisory Service as Primary and Secondary Adviser for RE and Citizenship and a Section 10 Ofsted Inspector. I was also later appointed to be the borough's lead consultant for faith community dialogue and schools adviser for unaccompanied refugee children. I moved to Liverpool Hope in 2001 and became Director of RE Services. I have run a wide range of CPD courses for primary and secondary teachers, governors and faith communities both nationally and internationally. I have been principal examiner for GCSE Hinduism and Buddhism and am currently Chief Examiner for GCSE World Religions Short and Long Courses.

My research interests include: effective pedagogies in RE teaching; raising standards in Key Stage 4 RE; community cohesion and school effectiveness. I am currently completing a PhD upon the teaching of Judaism within secondary schools.
