'Inspirational Tutor of the Year' awarded by the student body in March 2020I am a Professional Tutor in Education Studies working exclusively in the Network of Hope (NoH), I teach at all three levels and as a dissertation supervisor. I am currently Head of Year for final year students (Level H) in the NoH as well Head of Year for second year students (Level I) and, in addition, I am the Dissertation Coordinator for the NoH Education Studies students.
I am a former NoH student myself, having graduated in 2010 with a BA Combined Honors in Education Studies and Disability Studies. I graduated, again from Liverpool Hope, in 2017 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (with Special Educational Needs as my specialty). I am part of the Community of Practice that supports development in the NoH and I also represent Education Studies in the NoH liaison meetings. I am currently studying for my Doctorate in Education with Liverpool Hope, my focus being upon 'Compassionate Pedagogy in the HE Classroom', exploring aspects such as the 'Significance of the Lecturer-Student Relationship in academic engagement and attainment' as well as 'Emotional Labour' and 'Heart at the heart if teaching in HE'.
I am a strong advocate as regards the many benefits that studying in higher education can help bring about for students from non-traditional backgrounds, as well as identifying means by which I can help facilitate and encourage their continued and increased access and participation in settings such as the NoH
