3rd International Conference on Social Identity in Sport (ICSIS3)

We would like to invite and welcome all who have an interest in social identity and sport, physical activity and exercise to Liverpool Hope University, to take part in the 3rd International Conference on Social Identity in Sport (ICSIS). Liverpool Hope University pursues a path of excellence in scholarship and collegial life without reservation or hesitation. The University’s distinctive philosophy is to ‘educate in the round’ – mind, body and spirit – in the quest for Truth, Beauty and Goodness. With a history extending 175 years, Liverpool Hope has developed a strong tradition of scholarship and research in key disciplines.

The International Conference on Social Identity in Sport (ICSIS) aims to bring together leading research and applied experts/practitioners who explore sport, exercise and physical activity from a Social Identity Approach (SIA) from across the globe. Substantial progress has been made in research and applied practice that uses a SIA to gain a better understanding of key concepts, that are crucial within sport, exercise, physical activity and social contexts, some of these include (but not limited to):

ICSIS 3 will be taking place from the 25th June – 28th June 2022 at Liverpool Hope University. We will be building on the success of previous ICSIS events by adding an extra day to the conference program and social events, allowing more time and opportunities to hear from presenters, network with colleagues from around the world and plan for the future in regards to all things related to social identity and sport, physical activity and exercise. The conference will welcome delegates from 2pm on the 25th June, providing an opportunity to catch up, socialise, visit the city of Liverpool in the afternoon. This will be followed by a welcome and social event in the evening.

The conference will officially begin (with registration from 8:30-9:30am) at 9:30 am on the 26th June with a welcome to Liverpool Hope University and overview of the conference program. Full conference program will then begin on the 26th and finish on the 28th June (4:30pm). Included in the conference will be a number of social events on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday, related to sport and social identity as well as the conference gala dinner hosted at Liverpool Hope University on the evening of the 27th June. We look forward to welcoming you to Liverpool Hope University and look forward to providing all delegates a welcoming, supportive and enriching experience throughout the event.
