As we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. On that day they were granted the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Those gifts helped them to fulfil their mission to preach the Gospel to all nations. For us, too, those gifts are granted when we are filled with God’s grace - the life of God in our souls - help us to live a Christian life. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, fear of the Lord.

The fruits of these gifts are charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity.
