EVENTS AT HOPE
Shakespeare North Playhouse Online Symposium
Wednesday, 10 November 2021 , 10am
The School of Creative and Performing Arts, Liverpool Hope University is pleased to announce the third and last Zoom symposium centred on the new Shakespeare North Playhouse, which is opening in 2022. You are welcome to attend any part of the day, you just need to register on Eventbrite to receive the Zoom link (this is a free event).
Presenters include Ben Crystal and Holger Syme and there will be lively discussion about the merits and demerits of a range of topics coming under the 'original performing practices' aegis. Is original practices research the path to revelation or obscuration? Is the concept of shared light democratizing or deluding? These and many similar questions are bound to come up in this practice-focused symposium.
Presenters (in alphabetical order):
Callum Coates - actor and scholar of early modern theatre practice
Ben Crystal - actor, author, creative producer, and explorer of original practices in Shakespeare rehearsal and production
Ildiko Solti - independent practitioner/researcher and symposium co-organiser
Holger Syme (University of Toronto) - leading early modern theatre specialist
Ian Tabbron - ex-SNP interim CEO, now SNP consultant
James Wallace - actor/director, involved with the Globe’s long-running 'Read not Dead' project
