The 2019 Playwriting Prize

Colin Dowland, a primary school headteacher from London, was selected from over 200 entrants to win the third playwriting prize. Dowland scooped the prestigious £10,000 prize for his comic tale of a disastrous school Ofsted inspection with his script ‘Headless’.

The competition is a collaboration between the University and Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre, and the ceremony took place at Liverpool’s Royal Court on the evening of Monday 13th May. View photos from the event here.
