ChildLab team present at international conferences

Members of Liverpool Hope University’s ChildLab research group have been sharing their findings at several international conferences.

ChildLab is a team of psychologists and educators who are interested in researching how children develop and grow. Experts in a number of different fields, the groups’ work includes children’s learning, understanding, reading, emotions, and moral behaviour.

Dr Lorna Bourke and Dr Tom Gallagher-Mitchell attended the 17th Biennial EARLI 2017 Conference on Education in the crossroads of economy and politics – role of research in the advancement of good. Hosted by the University of Tampere, Finland, Dr Bourke presented her work on Capacity limitations, orthographic coding, writing fluency and dyslexia, while Dr Gallagher-Mitchell discussed Gaze guidance in number-line tasks in an invited symposium on eye-gaze modelling.

At the 20th Biennial Conference of the European Society for Cognitive Psychology (ESCoP), held in Potsdam, Germany, post-doctoral intern Dr Carlos Romero-Rivas presented three studies. A talk on Inside out: Implicit and explicit associations between goals and emotions and two posters conducted in cooperation with Dr Zoi Nikiforidou.  

Elsewhere, Dr Belen Lopez-Perez and Dr Antonio Zuffiano delivered talks on their research at the 18th biennial conference of the European Association of Developmental Psychology, hosted by the University of Utrecht the Netherlands.

Their research areas included Children's interpersonal emotion regulation; Prosocial behaviour and life satisfaction; Informant (dis)agreement in the assessment of children's moral emotions; Personality and parenting practices.
