Liverpool Hope University welcomed colleagues from Sun Yat-Sen University in China, as part of a long-standing partnership between the two institutions.
Dean Professor Chenguang Chang, Associate Dean Professor Bin Luo and Program Director Dr Jin Ma from the School of International Studies met with Vice-Chancellor and Rector Professor Gerald Pillay.
Sun Yat-Sen has sent several undergraduates to Hope in recent years to study English and Business on a 2+2 programme.
The team’s visit had a series of objectives, including considering Hope for as a venue for an annual summer school of 25 International Relations students.
In addition, the delegation discussed the possibility of Study Abroad opportunities at Hope, and a 1+1 MA programme across various subjects. This would see students carry out their first year at Sun Yat Sen, followed by a year at Hope studying an MA, which would see them graduate with two degrees – one from each University.
Sun Yat-Sen plan to establish a European Research Centre as part of the Chinese government’s ‘One Belt, One Road’ project. The European Research Centre will explore contemporary Euro-Sino relations.
