The Institutum Iurisprudentiae, Academia Sinica, hosted a special launch event in Taiwan for Dr Brian Christopher Jones’ latest edited collection.
Dr Jones flew to Taipei for the celebration of Law and Politics of the Taiwan Sunflower and Hong Kong Umbrella Movements.
He hosted the book launch, welcoming a panel made up of several notable academics, including Professor Fu Hualing (Hong Kong University), Professor Benny Tai (Hong Kong University), Professor David Law (Hong Kong University/Washington University), Professor Huang Cheng-Yi (Institutum Iurisprudentiae, Academia Sinica), Legislator Huang Kuo-Chang (Taiwan Legislative Yuan) and Dr Ho Chih-Hsing (Institute of European and American Studies, Academia Sinica).
Law and Politics of the Taiwan Sunflower and Hong Kong Umbrella Movements looks at the two movements, and their complex legal and political significance.
It explores the complex questions they pose as regards to democracy, rule of law, authority and freedom of speech.
