Lecturer in Education Studies Dr Joseph Maslen met with senior academics at the University of Gloucestershire and Canterbury Christ Church to initiate a wide-ranging research and public impact project on ‘fundamental British values’ (FBV).
A key part of this Cathedrals Group project – also involving colleagues from the universities of Cumbria and Roehampton – will be the creation of a learning resource to support teachers exploring notions of national identity and Britishness across the primary curriculum.
The project continues the Faculty of Education’s research agenda in the teaching of FBV. This includes a number of spin-off articles published in Journal of Education Policy and other highly rated journals such as Oxford Review of Education, and a forthcoming special issue in the journal International Review of Qualitative Research, which involves a number of Hope colleagues from across the Faculty and beyond.
