Senior Lecturer in Theology and Education Dr Ros Stuart-Buttle presented a research paper at the First International Conference on Catholic Religious Education in Schools.

Held in Malta, around 100 participants from 28 countries attended the event. Dr Stuart-Buttle spoke on Catholic religious education, theological literacy and teacher engagement with biblical texts, a topic, which attracted much interest and response.

The conference was organised in response to the success of the edited collection Global Perspective on Catholic Religious Education in Schools.

The conference is an opportunity for Catholic Scholars around the world working in the field of Religious Education to come together to reflect on the nature and identity of Catholic Religious Education in schools.

Dr Stuart-Buttle’s paper will appear as a chapter in Global Perspectives on Catholic Religious Education Volume II: Learning and Leading in a Pluralist World, which is due to be published later this year.
