Members of the public are invited to Liverpool Hope University to hear from a parliamentary expert on North Korea.

David Alton (Lord Alton of Liverpool), founder and co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea, will speak about the current situation and what we can learn from the past.

He will ask, beyond mutually assured destruction, what can the Cold War, and other seemingly intractable situations, teach us about bringing peaceful change to the Korean Peninsular?

Lord Alton has visited North Korea four times. He is author of Building Bridges, Is there hope for North Korea?, and he is a member of the international Sages Group.

Lord Alton is an alumnus and Visiting Professor of Liverpool Hope University and an Independent Crossbench Member of the House of Lords.  www.davidalton.net

The talk will take place on Friday 20th October, 1 – 2pm in Lecture Theatre A at Hope Park. All welcome.

The event is part of Liverpool Hope University’s Archbishop Desmond Tutu Centre for War and Peace Studies annual public series.

Other upcoming events include a symposium on The Balfour Declaration (1917-2017): Past, Present and Future.
