An exhibition by Head of History and Politics Associate Professor Sonja Tiernan is to go on display at the Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester.

‘Hilda Tweedy: A Link in the Chain’ will be showcased at the centre from Wednesday 13th September through to November.

The exhibit explores the history of Hilda Tweedy and the Irish Housewives Association, bringing a fascinating era of Irish social and women’s history to public view.

Professor Tiernan will deliver a talk on ‘Dangerous trends in Ireland: The Irish Housewives Association (1942-1992)’. This will explore the contexts in which the Irish Housewives Association operated and the key dates it became embroiled in.

The talk will take place on Wednesday 13th September at 7.15pm. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance.
