Senior Lecturers in Drama Dr Niamh Malone and Dr Gary Anderson, along with Senior Lecturer in Philosophy Dr Steven Shakespeare, are collaborating on a major international symposium held in partnership with Liverpool Tate Gallery.

On Saturday 24th February, 'Art Disarming Philosophy' will explore the approach taken to art by one of the world's leading philosophers - François Laruelle.

The participants include Laruelle himself, plus leading figures from the worlds of philosophy and performance art, making it a uniquely groundbreaking interdisciplinary event.

His ‘non-philosophy’ questions the idea that philosophy can tell us what it means to think, especially about subjects like art, which is already a way of thinking in itself. This symposium examines non-philosophy and encourages participants to explore new ways of thinking and creating.

Invited speakers include: Edia Connole, Laura Cull Ó Maoilearca, Lois Keidan, Anne-Françoise Schmid, François Laruelle, John Ó Maoilearca, Alan Read, Alice Rekab, Lorena Rivero de Beer, Anthony Paul Smith.

Tickets are just £5 and further details can be found here.
