Liverpool Hope welcomed Professor Dr Hans Hobelsberger, Rector, and Mr Bernward Robrecht, Chancellor and CEO, of the Catholic University of Applied Science in Germany.

The Catholic University of Applied Science has campuses in Cologne, Aachen, Munster and Paderborn. It has more than 4,000 students studying a variety of applied social science subjects, including Theology, Social Work and Education.

Professor Hobelsberger and Mr Robrecht met with Professor Pillay and colleagues from Social Sciences, Education and Humanities to discuss areas of mutual interest. The visit culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between both institutions, which seeks ways to support each other’s work and find opportunities to collaborate.

Liverpool and Cologne are twinned cities and an ecumenical Liverpool-Koln partnership between these cities has now been in place for 40 years. The collaboration between the two universities builds on the friendship and partnership between the cities of Liverpool and Cologne.
