Tennis skills were put to the test, as four of Liverpool Hope’s own battled it out at the Williams BMW Liverpool International Tennis Tournament’s corporate games.

Hope Park Sports Fitness Instructor Laura Seddon, Graduate Advocate Eleanor Ehlen, Senior Professional Tutor Neil Barber and Administrative Assistant David Phillips took on colleagues from across the business sector in a special tournament.

Playing in pairs, the teams battled it out against eight other organisations for the title. Putting on a valiant effort, Eleanor and David came seventh, while Neil and Laura took second place.

Laura said: “The tournament was great, although it felt strange to play in the middle of town when all the workers finished at 5pm!

It was a great evening, and lovely to meet other staff members from Liverpool Hope and to build working relationships with them.

The corporate competition preceded the official launch of the Williams BMW Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, which take place in the city from 21st – 24th June.

Liverpool Hope University is a presenting sponsor of the International, which has become the longest running and largest tennis exhibition in Europe. Since 2002, the tournament has introduced up-and-coming, and established WTA and ATP players as they prepare for Wimbledon.
