Senior Lecturer in Sociology Dr Michael Brennan has published a new book – Theorising the Popular, which explores the significance of particular elements of popular culture.

The edited collection emerges from the conference of the same name, which is hosted annually by Liverpool Hope and brings together a wide-variety of scholars and practitioners from across the arts, humanities and creative industries.

Cambridge Scholars Publishing describes each of the essays as demonstrating the “radically porous nature of popular culture, and the ways in which it continually defies attempts at neat categorisation by transcending traditional boundaries and genres”.

Contributors to the book include PhD candidate in Media and Communication at Liverpool Hope and the Catholic University of Lille Alison Offe, and independent researcher Kasandra-Louise Paterson, who completed her BA in English Literature and MA in Popular Literature at Liverpool Hope.
