Dr Eleanor Rees has been named as one of the winners at the Northern Writers’ Awards 2018.
The Lecturer in Creative Writing received recognition in the Poetry category, for her piece The Well at Winter Solstice.
More than 1,400 entries were submitted for the 2018 awards, with 26 writers selected as the finalists. A £40,000 award fund that includes mentoring, professional development bursaries and cash to buy time to write, will be shared among the winners.
Judging the contest was poet Imtiaz Dharker, literary agent Jonathan Ruppin, and authors Kerry Hudson and Lisa Williamson.
Established in 2000, the Northern Writers’ Awards supports new, emerging and established writers, as they develop work for publication. The Awards also aims to help them progress professionally and with the publishing industry.
