Psychology Professor Neil Ferguson has been awarded a prestigious Visiting Research Fellowship to the Changing Character of War Programme (CWW) at Pembroke College, University of Oxford.
The CCW is devoted to the interdisciplinary study of war and armed conflict, aiming to produce ‘policy-relevant’ analysis of recent conflicts, which has a global influence.
These highly competitive fellowships attract senior academics and practitioners from across the globe, including senior members of the armed forces, NGOs, diplomatic staff and journalists.
While at Pembroke College, Professor Ferguson will build on his research exploring disengagement from armed violence in Northern Ireland. It aims to develop a better understanding of how paramilitary groups in Northern Ireland understand and practice conflict transformation within working class communities.
