I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Science in Health & Social Care.

My research focuses upon disabled people's experiences of disability hate crime within the context of their everyday lives. My work aims to explore the prevalence of disability hate crime, the impacts this has and the various ways that disabled people negotiate this within the everyday.

My previous research includes an analysis of online disability hate speech within the context of austerity, and a critical discourse analysis of special educational needs policy. These works have been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, including Disability & Society and The Journal of Education Policy as well as a number of edited book collections.

My monograph 'Understanding Disability and Everyday Hate' was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2021.

I have co-led a steering group to produce a disability hate crime toolkit which can be accessed for free online.
