I have recently finished my PhD research on disability hate crime in the School of Sociology & Social Policy at the University of Leeds. My thesis explored disabled people's understandings and experiences of disability hate crime, particularly within the context of their everyday lives. My previous research includes an analysis of online disability hate speech within the context of austerity, and a critical discourse analysis of special educational needs policy. These works have been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals, including Disability & Society and The Journal of Education Policy as well as a number of edited book collections.
I have recently been appointed as Lecturer in Social Sciences at Liverpool Hope University.
