Before taking up my current post as postdoctoral teaching fellow in sport and health science, I recently completed a PhD at Bangor University, investigating metabolic adaptations at whole body and cellular levels in response to altered nutrient availability and energy demand. The overarching theme of my doctoral studies was analysing the effects of a series of lifestyle interventions manipulating diet and exercise, on multiple metabolic factors controlling energy balance and bodyweight regulation.  My earlier studies were also based at Bangor University, where I undertook my BSc in sports science and MSc in applied sport and exercise physiology. During my time there I also had the opportunity to work on a project investigating the overall health, fitness and wellbeing of children and young people with mobility impairments.
My current research focus is investigating the multidimensional health benefits of tennis in senior players, including the physical, psycho-social and nutritional aspects. Ultimately, the main aim of this project is to identify whether regular tennis participation can enhance your overall health and quality of life.
