Dr Gallagher-Mitchell completed a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of York in 2008. He then went on to complete an MSc in Child Studies at the University of Lincoln in 2009 alongside work as an SEN teaching assistant.
From 2009-2015 he conducted a part-time Psychology PhD and teaching assistant role at the University of Aberdeen on the topic of "Sources of variability in numerical cognition".
Dr Gallagher-Mitchell was employed as a lecturer in Psychology at Edge Hill University from 2014-2016 before joining the department at Liverpool Hope.
His research interests span lifespan cognitive development and individual differences, with a specialist interest in numerical cognition and applications within educational settings and specialist populations (SEN).
