Mr Daniel Thorne

PROFESSIONAL TUTOR IN MUSIC PRACTICE
Music

thorned@hope.ac.uk

I am a composer and saxophonist, originally from Perth, Australia. I hold an MRes in Music Composition from the University of Liverpool, and a BMus (Hons) in Arranging and Composition from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. I have an active and varied career as both a composer and a performer, with the majority of my practice existing at the intersection between composition, improvisation and music technology. There are a number of commercial recordings of my music released on the acclaimed independent label, Erased Tapes, and I have presented solo performances of my music across the UK and Europe. I am also the founder of Immix, a new music ensemble that specialises in cross-genre and cross-artform collaboration, who have commissioned and performed over 25 new works from a wide range of artists since our formation in 2014.
