I hold an MA in Dance Practice from Liverpool John Moores University and a BA (Hons) in Dance Performance, Laban Trinity, graduating as a member of Transitions Dance Company. I have collaborated with and under the direction of Christopher Bruce (UK), Richard Alston (UK) Claude Brumchon (EU), Lea-Anderson (UK), Duncan McFarland (USA) and Karen Greenough (CAN). Previously a member of faculty at Trinity Laban and created works for London Studio Centre, Millennium and Kate Simmons Dance. As a member of Rambert's Education and Community programme for over ten years, leading innovative projects, collaborating with London Symphonia, Birmingham Royal Ballet and London Musici. I have worked in the Higher Education sector for 30 years and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
My practice-based research explores dance improvisation and somatic approaches in relation to performance, choreography and studio practices. Working through solo and collaborative processes within professional, educational and community contexts. I am the founder and director of PATCH a community dance research and professional practice project funded by the Comino Foundation. The projects have investigated how to widen the provision of inclusivity, engaging artistic activities for young people at risk of exclusion through collaborative performance projects that have involved dance, photography, music, Site based practice and filmmaking. I am a Contemporary examiner for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and a Dance Ambassador for The Royal Opera House.
