I am Subject Lead for Disability Studies in the School of Social Science and core member of the Centre for Culture and Disability Studies (CCDS). I work with an excellent team of colleagues who are committed to learning, teaching and research in disability studies.
My publications include A Clumsy Encounter: Drawing and Dyspraxia (2011) and Disability, Avoidance and the Academy with my colleague Professor David Bolt Bolt (2016). I have published chapters in Changing social attitudes toward disability: Perspectives from historical, cultural and educational studies edited by Professor Bolt (2014) and Learning, to Teach Art and Design in the Secondary School (2014) and have recently collaborated on a book chapter DadaFest Ensemble: Leadership, Voice and Collaboration in the Arts in Contemporary Art and Disability Studies, edited by Alice Wexler and John Derby (2020). I am Co-editor of a Special Issue of the Journal of Literary and Cultural Disability Studies (JLCDS), titled The Biopolitics of Art Education with my colleague Jeff Adams, now Emeritus Professor at Chester University. My research has been published in a range of journals including: The International Journal of Art and Design Education; Disability and Society; Journal of Education Policy; Journal of Research and Method in Education; Innovations in Education Training International; Journal of Social Theory in Art Education, International Journal of Education Through Art; Journal of Further and Higher Education.
