Professor Simon Piasecki

Professor Piasecki joined Hope from the University of Salford and he has also worked at the Leeds Metropolitan University and Chester and is a governor for the Northern School of Dance. As well as his extensive experience in Higher Education, Professor Piasecki is also a trained artist and performer. He has worked as a performance artist around the world and has created performances at night against the backdrop of mountain ranges in the UK and Spain. These performances took a live audience out onto the mountains at night and relied on night vision to create a spectacle that explored landscape and belonging. Professor Piasecki's research and practice has been dedicated for the last two decades to the exploration of identity and migration. As an actor he performed in the television series This is England 90. More recently he has adapted Antoine de Saint Exupéry's Flight to Arras for theatre and this has toured with Piasecki&Piasecka Theatre company in Britain, France and Armenia. Thier latest work is an adaptation of Melville's Moby Dick. Professor Piasecki is currently writing and publishing about the performance of pilgrimage in both religious and secular contexts. Professor Piasecki also holds an MA in Visual Communication (Illustration) and is a professional illustrator and painter. He is now the School of Creative and Performing Arts Lead for Interdisciplinarity and International Development.
