Dr Jody Crutchley

Jody Crutchley is a Lecturer in Modern History at Liverpool Hope University and has worked at Liverpool Hope University for the past seven years. She is a historian of empire, citizenship and education and is particularly interested in the teaching of imperial identities in Britain in the late nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. 

Previously, she worked as a historical researcher on the BBC Radio 4 drama ‘Home Front’ and as a Leverhulme Trust-funded postdoctoral researcher on the 'Faith on the Air', where she explored the history of religious educational broadcasting in Britain,  between 1922 and 1939. . She is a co-author of the forthcoming monograph Religious Education in British Broadcasting with Oxford University Press, and was a co-editor of the book Sight, Sound and Text in the History of Education, published by Routledge. She is currently a co-PI on the 'We Need to Walk About Empire' project, funded by Historic England and is the supervisor for two History PhD students. Jody is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Treasurer of the History of Education, UK.
