I graduated from the University of Hull with a BA (Hons) Tourism Management and a PhD in Management entitled “Power, Stakeholders and the Theory of Planned Behaviour: Understanding Stakeholder Engagement in an English Seaside Context”. In addition, I hold a PGCert in Research Training from the University of Hull and a PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Liverpool Hope University, as well as being a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
My research interests include stakeholder theory and engagement, power, destination management, pedagogy and coastal tourism. More recently my research interests have focused on tourism destinations and their development, specifically in terms of aesthetics of destinations and place making in the context of Malta. Furthermore, I am currently researching in the area of natural hazard awareness and vulnerability of tourism destinations and considering this in the context of Malta, the Azores and other small island destinations.
