What Will Happen if COVID-19 Impacts My Exam Results?

How easy is it to get between the campuses?

It is very easy to access all three campuses. We have a free shuttle bus that runs between each campus during term time at various times each day. There are also public buses that run from our Hope Park/Aigburth campus. Our Creative Campus is also within walking distance to Liverpool City Centre.

When do I have to apply for accommodation?

It is guaranteed for first years so you can apply when you like however, if you would like a selection to choose from (en-suite / shared / what campus) it is best to apply early.

What is transport like in the city? Do I need a car?

Transport in the city is very easy to learn. There are a variety of buses that run 24 hours a day and some of those pass our campus. We have buses nearby every campus that can get you to and from the airport.

Can guests stay in the accommodation?

Unfortunately they cannot however if you wish to have someone stay over they can rent out guest accommodation either in the halls on site or in our EDEN suites.

What sizes of classes can I expect?

Depending on your course choice you may find that you have a smaller or larger class than that of a friend studying another subject. You will still have lectures, seminars and tutorials regardless of your course size so there will be varying number of students in each class.

How Do You Equip Students for the World of Work?

What is a placement year?

One academic year spent in industry. You need to work for a minimum of 1200 hours (approx. 9 months full-time) between the 2nd year and final year of your undergraduate course.

How does it work?

With support from the Careers & Employability Service and your academic department, you find and secure a placement that fits your career aims and objectives. Once you've secured your placement you transfer on to the placement variant of your programme.

Upon successful completion 'Placement Year' is added to your degree title (eg. BA Hons Marketing with Placement Year). Your degree classification is still determined by your academic study (2nd year and final year).

If you're on a three year undergraduate programme this would make your programme of study four years and you would spend a year working between 2nd year and final year.

How much will it cost?

The Placement Year benefits from reduced fees of £900. You may still be entitled to some statutory support while you are away from the University .

Your placement fee covers support before, during and after your placement, plus continued access to University Support Services whilst on placement.

Will I be paid whilst I'm working?

Advertised opportunities are typically paid £16,000 - £23,000 p.a. We won't advertise opportunities that don't offer a salary however some students may choose to undertake an unpaid placement.

What is Global Hope?

Global Hope is our overseas volunteering programme. It uses the resources of the University to support the education and development of partner communities overseas. In particular, this means using the University’s expertise in learning and teaching, welfare and well-being, research and subject knowledge to effectively work alongside partners in developing countries to meet their needs appropriately. This approach is grounded in the principle of reciprocity. A commitment to these relationships over the longer term has enabled genuine partnerships to develop. As a result, a deeper level of cross-cultural understanding now exists between Global Hope and its partners across three continents.

Global Hope seeks to use this insight to give effective support to communities in meeting their own educational and development needs. At the same time the Global Hope experience generally provides an opportunity for meaningful professional and personal development opportunities for members of the University, with resonance for them and others long after their return to the UK.
