Counselling Services
Sometimes, a conversation with a professional counsellor can make all the difference. Counselling can be accessed via the helpline or the Wisdom app. During the clinical assessment, employees can suggest the best options and the counsellors will take you through this process
Through the EAP, you can access:
-
Formal Counselling Sessions: delivered in person, by telephone, or via secure video.
-
Online Counselling: flexible and accessible from anywhere.
-
Short-term Solution-Focused Therapy: helping you address challenges and find practical ways forward.
You are entitled to up to six counselling sessions per issue, ensuring you receive consistent, focused support tailored to your individual needs.
All counselling sessions are provided by qualified professionals and are completely confidential. No personal details are shared with the University. Counselling is a free and confidential service, available to both staff and their immediate family members (partners and children aged 16–24 in full-time education, living in the same household).

Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (cCBT)
The EAP also provides access to online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (cCBT) — a clinically proven approach that helps individuals manage issues like anxiety, depression, and low confidence through guided digital programmes.
This can be accessed via the clinical assessment through the helpline or the Wisdom app. During the clinical assessment, employees can suggest they would like to look into SilverCloud and the counsellors will take you through this process.
These sessions can be completed at your own pace, offering tools and techniques to help you reframe negative thoughts and develop positive coping strategies.
cCBT is particularly beneficial if you prefer a self-guided approach or wish to complement ongoing counselling support.
Menopause Programme – Right Steps
At Liverpool Hope University, we recognise that the menopause can be a significant and often challenging stage of life, affecting both physical and emotional wellbeing. To support staff during this transition, the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) includes access to the Right Steps Online Menopause Programme, a structured, evidence-based course designed to help individuals manage symptoms and maintain wellbeing.
This can be accessed via the clinical assessment through the helpline or the Wisdom app. During the clinical assessment, employees can suggest they would like to look into Right Steps and the counsellors will take you through this process.
This five-week online course provides practical tools and guidance to help you understand and manage the effects of menopause on your body and mind. Each session focuses on different aspects of wellbeing, including:
-
Understanding menopause and identifying personal triggers
-
Managing stress, hot flushes, and night sweats
-
Improving sleep, relaxation, and self-care routines
-
Developing healthy coping strategies and maintaining resilience
The programme combines expert clinical content with interactive exercises, mood tracking, and progress reviews, helping you take control of your wellbeing at your own pace.
Delivered through Rightsteps, part of the Health Assured platform, the course is confidential, self-guided, and supported by professionals specialising in women’s health and behavioural wellbeing.
