Chimdia has recently completed his Masters in Computer Science at Liverpool Hope University, and is set to graduate this summer.
As part of his university experience, Chimdia completed an internship supported by Student Futures, an experience he describes as transformative for both his confidence and his professional development.
“It was great to get hands-on experience in a real working environment alongside my studies.”
He explains that the placement allowed him to apply his technical knowledge in practical scenarios, helping him develop essential workplace skills such as taking initiative, engaging with colleagues, and problem-solving in real-world situations.
“It taught me valuable skills that will support me in my future career, especially taking ownership and solving problems in a real-world scenario.”
Chimdia first discovered the internship through Liverpool Hope University. After expressing interest, he was successful in his application and interview.
“I initially saw the opportunity advertised through the university and was interested enough to find out more. I had a number of sessions with Hope while on my internship.”
For Chimdia, Hope offered the perfect blend of community, support, and practicality.
“I chose to study at Hope not only because it was close to my family, but because it’s a small, close community. That means more opportunities and more tailored support.”
After completing his placement, Chimdia continues to work with the company on a part-time basis. Alongside this, he is developing his own projects, including app development, to further strengthen his technical portfolio.
“The whole experience gave me so much confidence in my ability and allowed me to put my technical skills into practice.”
He highlights ownership, communication, and hands-on application as the biggest takeaways from his internship.
“Being able to take ownership and apply my skills in a practical way was huge for me. My advice to anyone considering an internship or placement would be to just go for it.”
