Liverpool Hope University has strengthened its international ties through collaboration with Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU).
Located in the Greater Bay Area of China, next to Hong Kong, Macau, and Shenzhen, BNBU is widely recognised for its liberal arts-style education and international outlook. Both BNBU and Liverpool Hope share a distinctive commitment to treating students as individuals, fostering close-knit academic communities that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship.
This relationship builds upon longstanding academic collaborations between Professor Adolf K.Y. Ng, Dean, Chair Professor and Director at BNBU, and Dr Mark Ching-Pong Poo, Lecturer in the Business School at Liverpool Hope University, who specialises in sustainable supply chain management.
Professor Ng, who holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, has worked closely with Dr Poo for many years. Together, their research groups have co-authored several papers in leading international journals such as Ocean & Coastal Management and Reliability Engineering & System Safety, with additional journal articles and edited book projects currently underway.
Looking ahead, both universities are committed to expanding their collaboration through initiatives that enhance student experience and research excellence. Planned activities include student exchange and study abroad programmes, offering students immersive opportunities to engage with diverse academic environments. For staff, the partnership will promote joint research projects, academic visits, and knowledge exchange, further strengthening the academic and cultural links between the two institutions.
This collaboration represents an important step in Liverpool Hope University’s ongoing commitment to global engagement and reflects the shared values of BNBU and Hope in promoting inclusive, human-centric education and innovative research.
