An Everton FC sports scientist gave Liverpool Hope University students a fascinating insight into the task of keeping players fit and performing at their best.
Jason O’Keefe works with the Blues title-chasing U-23s team, and is responsible for making sure the squad are in top physical condition and free from injury.
He gave an hour-long guest lecture to second year students from Hope’s Sport & Physical Education degree on Monday morning.
Jason, a guest of Senior Lecturer in Coaching Science Dr James Malone, explained the warm-ups he leads the players through before a game, and how he presents data from their training sessions to manager David Unsworth.
He also gave students advice on how to pursue a career in football, before answering their questions.
Everton U-23s currently have a four-point lead at the top of Premier League 2 after beating Liverpool 2-0 in the mini-derby last week.
