The University joined Friday’s Global Day of Action with a fantastic turnout on the Rector’s lawn.
We joined thousands of events across the globe, held in response to the growing threat of climate change, and demanding leaders and governments recognise the severity of the climate crisis, raise ambition and take more efficient action.
Here at Hope, sustainability is central to the University’s Mission and Values and is firmly embedded in our Corporate Plan to live responsibly, and instil virtues of global responsibility.
It is our goal to reduce our environmental impact, and continue to reduce our carbon emissions to contribute to the net zero carbon emissions target set by Liverpool City Council (by 2030) and UK government (by 2050).
Continually improving the sustainability of the University will require a wide-ranging approach with both behavioural and technical projects, and the Global Day of Action was a great platform to launch the University writing its new Sustainability Strategy and Carbon Management Plan.
