Liverpool Hope University is on a mission to make its sporting facilities even more accessible to both staff and students.

And as part of an exciting relaunch of Hope Park Sports, a special week of activities will take place beginning Monday February 21st.

What’s more, there are FIVE free Fitbit fitness trackers up for grabs for the winners of a daily sporting challenge.

Those challenges will take place from 12-2pm daily and will include everything from scaling an artificial climbing wall using the least amount of holds available, to performing a ‘plank’ exercise for the longest duration, and even seeing how long you can hula hoop.

And Professor Caroline Wakefield, Assistant Head of Health and Sport Sciences and who’s overseeing the Hope Park Sports refresh, says the University’s facilities are there to be enjoyed by all - and also represent something the entire Hope family can be proud of.

Professor Wakefield said: "Since January 2022, we have been working to implement several changes to Hope Park Sport, including increased visibility, access and opportunities.

“Most notable is the increased use of the centre as an educational facility, putting it to the forefront of the student experience.

“Furthermore, the centre staff have developed a full timetable of sport and fitness classes, available to both staff and students, to suit the needs of all ability levels.

“I am delighted at the enthusiasm and commitment of colleagues towards the transformation of both the atmosphere and use of the centre. This renewed focus will be a pivotal development for the health and well being of staff and students alike."

As part of the relaunch week, special goodie bags will also be available to anyone who comes down to Hope Park Sports. Those bags will feature locker tokens, energy drinks, and protein bars.

And if you sign up to a Hope Park Sports membership during that week, you’ll get it at the reduced rate of just £10 for the rest of the year.

That gives you access to the gym, fitness suite and dance studio, and you’ll be able to book everything from the astroturf to the full-size 3G pitch, as well as the badminton, netball, tennis and squash courts.

Professor Wakefield adds: “As well as the facilities themselves, a Hope Park Sports membership also includes a full programme of fitness classes which you can attend for free.

“And it’s not just about playing ‘sports’ in the traditional sense. Hope Park Sports includes yoga, walking groups, staff wellbeing sessions, as well as more informal ‘social sports’ sessions, for people who might want to have a game of basketball, for example, but who don’t necessarily want to join the team and play against other universities.”

“We want to let everyone know that whatever your level or whatever your ambitions, you’re likely to find something at Hope Park Sports which suits you.”

The relaunch of the University’s sporting facilities has also seen major updates to the main building, which now features a unique new word-based artwork, which incorporates the thoughts of both staff and students.

The University’s sporting trophies are now also on display in the main foyer, while sports teams’ kits are also on show.
