Liverpool Hope University has achieved one of the highest rises in the country in The Guardian Good University Guide 2018, climbing 23 places.

In the North West, Liverpool Hope is now jointly placed with Edge Hill University at 56, and above University of Central Lancashire (67), Manchester Metropolitan University (76), University of Chester (77), Liverpool John Moores University (80) and University of Bolton (86). For the first time, Liverpool Hope has also been ranked above the University of Liverpool (67) in the table.

Subjects areas at Liverpool Hope including Business, Biosciences and Social Policy and Administration have all risen significantly, with Social Policy and Administration entering the top ten nationally.

Graduate prospects has also been a factor in the climb. 96.2% of 2015 Liverpool Hope University graduates were in employment or further study 6 months after graduation.

The Guardian Good University Guide ranks universities according to: spending per student; the student/staff ratio; graduate career prospects; what grades applicants need to get a place; a value-added score that compares students’ entry qualifications with their final degree results; and how satisfied final-year students are with their courses, based on results from the annual National Student Survey (NSS).

Professor Gerald Pillay, Vice Chancellor and Rector of Liverpool Hope University said: “This is excellent news for Liverpool Hope and for the city. Staff across the University work extremely hard to ensure that our students enjoy high quality teaching and learning experiences. Research-informed teaching and small group tutorials means that our students are personally engaged and not lost in a crowd. It is an exciting time to be part of Liverpool Hope.”

“League tables are just half of the story. That is why we encourage people to speak to our students and staff, and visit our two beautiful campuses to get the full picture of what it is like to live and study with us.”

Liverpool Hope now offers one of the widest ranges of combined degrees in the UK.

It specialises in small group teaching across its two campuses, Hope Park in Childwall and the Creative Campus on Shaw Street close to Liverpool City Centre. It is in the top 10 in the UK for the percentage of staff with doctorates.

The University is also offering new courses. From September 2017 it will offer BA Education Studies (Single Honours) and BA Early Childhood (Single Honours). From September 2018 it will offer BA Graphic Design (Single Honours), BA Popular Music (Combined Honours), BEng Robotics, BEng Robotics (with year in industry), MEng Robotics and MEng Robotics (with year in industry).

Less than a month ago, the 2018 Complete University Guide announced that Liverpool Hope had soared 25 places in its table, making it the second-highest rising university in the U.K and the highest rising university in the North West.
