Liverpool Hope University has been ranked fifth in the UK for student satisfaction following analysis by Times Higher Education (THE) of the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS) results.

Organised by the Office for Students, the NSS asks final-year undergraduates to share their thoughts on a range of topics relating to their university experience, such as learning opportunities, academic support and student voice.

The NSS does not measure students’ overall satisfaction for universities in England so THE has analysed responses to the 26 questions asked in the survey to determine how positive students are about their studies.

Liverpool Hope received an 86.3% positivity measure across all questions, placing it in the top five nationally for student satisfaction out of the 149 universities included in THE’s league table.

This analysis builds on Liverpool Hope’s excellent results in this year’s edition of the NSS, which were released on Wednesday 10 July.

One of the largest exercises of its kind in the world, the 2024 survey was completed by just under 346,000 final-year students and saw Liverpool Hope rise in the rankings in every category.

The University was rated top in the North West and in the top 10 nationally in six of the themes covered by the survey questions:

 - Learning opportunities
 - Assessment and feedback
 - Academic support
 - Student voice
 - Mental wellbeing services
 - Freedom of expression

Commenting on THE’s findings, Liverpool Hope’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr Penny Haughan, said: “Times Higher Education’s overall positivity score reinforces the excellent results we achieved in this year’s National Student Survey.

“We strive to ensure our student experience is the best it possibly can be, so we are incredibly proud of this recognition, which would not have been possible without the hard work of our dedicated staff.

“I must thank every student who completed the survey. Their feedback will help us continue to deliver a fantastic university experience.”

THE’s analysis includes full-time and part-time students at English providers registered with the Office for Students as universities, plus University of London constituent colleges and universities in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. A small number of institutions were removed because of a low response rate.
