Liverpool Hope University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Liverpool Cathedral.

This new agreement was formalised by Liverpool Hope University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Claire Ozanne, and Dean of Liverpool, the Very Revd Dr Sue Jones, at a signing ceremony held at the cathedral on Monday 14 October.

The relationship will see both institutions work collaboratively to develop creative partnerships, initiatives and events which focus on:

- Performing and creative arts
- Education
- Nurturing young talent
- Increasing research-engagement
- Placement opportunities for University staff, students and volunteers
- Growing spiritual awareness and well-being amongst those connected with the two institutions.

Commenting on the agreement, Professor Claire Ozanne said: “Liverpool Cathedral aligns closely with the values and ethos laid out by Liverpool Hope University’s ecumenical traditions.

“We are therefore delighted to formalise this relationship, which is an important step forward in our commitment to working collaboratively with local stakeholders to contribute to the development of Liverpool City Region, its organisations and communities.

"This agreement will provide exciting opportunities for those engaged with both institutions, including our staff and students.

“We look forward to working with the cathedral and utilising the strength of our teaching and research, to support leadership development, work with young people and interreligious dialogue to create lasting impact within our community.”

The Dean of Liverpool the Very Revd Dr Sue Jones added: “Our relationship with Liverpool Hope University is incredibly important to myself and Liverpool Cathedral.

“Liverpool Hope’s historic links to both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic church has shaped that institution and made them a significant partner with our cathedral.

“Signing this memorandum cements and deepens our relationship and enables us to build a great future together.”
