Hope colleagues and students were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the University at a glittering awards ceremony last Friday.
Hosted at the Creative Campus in the spectacular Great Hall, the annual Hope Star Awards are organised by the Liverpool Hope Students’ Union, and aim to recognise and congratulate all of those who go above and beyond within the Hope community.
With hundreds of individual nominations this year, the winners all make a real difference to university life in their own way.
Vice-president of Education Alex Toomath and Union Manager Khurrum Dar organised the special event. Alex acknowledged the impact of the awards, saying: “It is a real privilege to be involved in this fantastic event which acknowledges all those who make Hope what it is. For many of our students, the people around them, whether it be their peers, lecturers or professional services staff, really make for a fulfilling and enriching experience while studying here.
“I was overwhelmed with the sheer amount of nominations that came through and that really is testament to the supportive culture within the Hope community. It’s great to get a chance to reflect on our achievements and really celebrate those people that go above and beyond. It was an incredibly special night and one that I feel very lucky to have been a part of.
“There is something so wonderful about hearing people’s first-hand experiences of support and kindness, and that came through so evidently within all of the nominations. From all of us at the Students’ Union, we would like to congratulate our 2025 winners. I also want to personally extend thanks to all those nominated for the exceptional work that they do and also to the panel who helped to shortlist the nominations; Madison Campbell, Hareth Alshaban and Elisa Mill.”
This year, there were 14 awards across student and staff categories, including two special Vice President of Education recognition awards, which went to student Niamh Carroll Moriarty and Social Media Officer Elle Harker.
