MealMate came home with a trophy and invitation to the Young Enterprise National Final in May, after a day of fierce competition at the Regionals.

The team, which is on a mission to provide students with healthy and cheap meal ideas, went up against 13 other teams to deliver a business pitch and showcase its innovative recipe book.

Sarah Goulden, Employment and Enterprise Officer, said: “The team’s performance at the Regional Finals was outstanding. Following their engaging business pitch, well-presented trade stand and comprehensive business plan, we were delighted to see them win a place at the Young Enterprise National Final.”

MealMate travelled to the Regionals with fellow Liverpool Hope team Unspoken, which is a community interest company that aims to raise awareness of mental health, and create an online community for those facing mental health issues to share their story.

At the Liverpool Hope Young Enterprise Final in January, both teams were selected by guest judges from Santander and Young Enterprise to progress to the Regionals.

Unspoken also performed well at the event, and team member Jacob Sanderson was shortlisted for Student of the Year 2018.

MealMate is now focusing on expanding their customer base and winning some big business contracts ready to take on their competitors in Loughborough in May. If you would like to find out more about the MealMate cookbook, visit the team’s Instagram @mealmate_group.
