Liverpool Hope University pays tribute to former Chancellor, Field Marshal Charles Ronald Llewelyn Guthrie, Baron Guthrie of Craigiebank, who passed away on 18 September at the age of 86.
Lord Charles Guthrie served as Chancellor of the University from 2013 to 2020. He was an exemplary leader who lived out the true values of the institution in his work as chancellor, in his career and in his everyday life.
Lord Guthrie was a respected British commander and lived his life as a devout Catholic, supporting a number of charities aligned to his faith. Liverpool Hope is saddened by his passing, and remains grateful for his invaluable contribution as Chancellor.
