Catering team shortlisted for prestigious award

Liverpool Hope University's catering team has been shortlisted for a prize at the prestigious 2023 U Dine Awards.

The University has been nominated in the campus hospital category for the annual ceremony, which celebrates excellence in the university hospitality sector.

Hope is up against Staffordshire University and the University of Warwick, with the winner set to be revealed at a networking event and dinner hosted by celebrity chef and co-host of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, Simon Rimmer.

The ceremony takes places at Nottingham Venues on 20 June, and winners will receive a place on a three-day study tour of Barcelona, with the opportunity to learn about the city’s hidden hospitality gems and its regional cuisine and produce.

A record number of more than 50 universities entered this year’s U Dine Awards, which are widely regarded as the pinnacle of recognition for those working in the university hospitality sector.

Reflecting on the nomination, Head of Catering, Gary Pace, said: “The whole catering team is delighted to be shortlisted for the Campus Hospitality Award.

“We are up against some really strong competitors in this category, so to get to this stage is a huge achievement.

“To ensure that all events held at the University are memorable experiences the catering team works extremely hard and with professional dedication in all of the events that we host.

“I am proud to see our team reach this stage. As a thank you to our colleagues we will be sending a few of them along to enjoy the awards dinner itself in June."

Hope’s catering team provide for more than 5,000 students and 350 staff on a daily basis, operating a wide range of food outlets across Hope Park and the Creative Campus.

This includes the Our Place Bar and Kitchen, Café 1846 and the Fresh Hope Food Court, which is the largest eating space at the University and features a deli sandwich bar, a street food counter and noodle bar and salad station.

All food is prepared in-house by a talented team of chefs, who create a varied menu catering for the tastes of all students and staff.

Alongside this, the catering team also provide hospitality for events held at the University’s campuses, offering banqueting, buffet and refreshment options for everything from large gatherings of 200 to more intimate occasions.
