An exhibition showcasing the work of final year students from the Department of Fine and Applied Art is set to go on display at the Creative Campus.

Opening with a private viewing on Friday 25th May at 5.30pm, the 2018 Degree Show will feature paintings, sculpture, jewellery design, textiles and ceramics. The content of the work is wide-ranging and includes thematic topics such as, memory, social justice, abstraction, installation, and the role of technology in public and private spaces. A range of awards sponsored by prestigious art organisations will be presented to students on the opening night, including the FACT+Liverpool Hope Production Residency Award, which was introduced in 2015.

The exhibition is the culmination of three years of study and our students would welcome Hope alumni to witness the strength, courage, critical engagement and reflective decision making that makes up the everyday experiences of excellence in scholarship and academic engagement. Many pieces will be available to purchase at the viewing. The exhibition is open to the public from Saturday 26th May to Monday 4th June (closed Monday 28th May), 10am - 4pm in the Cornerstone Building at the Creative Campus.

The Cornerstone Building is home to Liverpool Hope University’s Drama, Fine Art and Design, and Dance and Performance Studies departments. Formerly the former 19th century school of St. Francis Xavier, the building has been transformed into 21st century centre for learning.

The Creative Campus buildings are most impressive and are all within the setting of Angel Field, a 21st Century Renaissance style garden, providing a place of beauty and serenity for contemplation and study. It consists of fountains, an amphitheatre, angel statue and beautiful, quiet, reflective spaces – an oasis in the heart of the city.

After viewing the Degree Show, explore the gardens and within the clipped hedges, buxus and yew, discover a series of stimulating quotations ranging from St. Thomas Aquinas to Shakespeare.

Most of our Alumni events take place in Childwall and so the Degree Show is an excellent opportunity to also see the Cornerstone Campus. We will meet at 5.30pm on the ground floor for a glass of wine and then wander at leisure around the exhibition. At 6.00pm the presentation of awards takes place, one of which is the Alumni Purchase Prize. If you would like to attend, please complete the form below.
