The Gilbert Murray Trust has awarded a grant to Subject Leader in Drama and Theatre Studies Dr Stephe Harrop for the production of a new educational film.

Becoming Chorus is the second film in Dr Harrop’s Acting the Ancient World series, which is designed to help Classics teachers introduce drama-based exercises in their classroom teaching.

The series of short films aims to enrich school and college students’ understanding of ancient Greek plays.

Due to begin shooting this summer, Becoming Chorus will feature a cast of talented young actors, who have recently graduated from Liverpool Hope University's Drama programme.

Dr Harrop’s first film The Messenger Speaks was showcased by The Institute of Classical Studies as an example of best practice in public engagement.

The Gilbert Murray Trust was founded in 1956 and seeks to further the work of Murray, who dedicated his life to Classical Studies and international affairs.
