Businesses, organisations and charities across the Liverpool City Region are being invited to nominate their exceptional leaders for the first Liverpool Hope and The Leaders Club Awards.

Judges are looking to recognise individuals who make a significant difference to the Liverpool City Region by demonstrating excellent leadership skills and/or promoting excellence in leadership in others.

Applications are welcomed across six categories – Arts; Common Good; Enterprise; Health; Education, and Uniformed Services.

Judges are looking for leaders who demonstrate some or all of the key leadership values of integrity, courage, empathy, competency, communication and co-operation, and who can show their impact in their chosen field and the Liverpool City Region.

The aim of the awards is to promote both excellence in leadership and the importance of long-term leadership education.

Judges will include members of The Leaders Club, academics from Liverpool Hope University and expert professionals from each field. The awards are free to enter and applications can be made in more than one category. Those nominated for the awards must carry out their leadership activity within the Liverpool City Region.

The awards are part of a new partnership between the University and The Leaders Club, which also includes mentoring opportunities for students, networking and regular Question Time events with sector leaders and the public.

Professor Ian Vandewalle, Head of Liverpool Hope Business School said: “At Liverpool Hope our students learn from real world experience and example. In recognising outstanding leaders in the Liverpool City Region, we want to inspire our students and show them the diverse ways in which excellent leadership can make a significant difference. We look forward to welcoming the nominated leaders to Liverpool Hope to celebrate their success.”

Stephen Fletcher, Founder of The Leaders Club said: “Excellent leadership can change lives. It is vital in times of change, experimentation and adversity. We wanted to work with Liverpool Hope on these awards to recognise that leadership is a vital skill that can be built upon over time. We should never stop learning and developing our capacity for leadership.”

The Leaders Club is a national networking organisation, whose members are encouraged to use their expertise and experience to inspire leaders of the future. The Club has 100 founder members, 450 ordinary members and has held more than 80 gatherings. Topics tackled by the network have previously included Brexit and the NHS.

Liverpool Hope University researchers share their expertise at the network’s regular ‘Question Time’ and think-tank style meetings in Liverpool, London and Bristol. There are also plans for guest lectures and student mentoring. Students at the University will be invited to the events and will have the opportunity to meet and hear from members of the Leaders Club.
