Ambition Institute has appointed Liverpool Hope University as its Higher Education Institute partner to validate and award the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for its new Initial Teacher Training programme.

This brand new partnership between the two organisations is focused on supporting new teachers at the start of their career.

Liverpool Hope University’s School of Education has been delivering teacher education courses since 1844 and is internationally recognised for excellence in research and teaching.

Ambition Institute is a national education charity, and the largest provider of teacher education in England. Ambition Institute was awarded Initial Teacher Training accreditation from the Department for Education in 2022 and began a rigorous procurement process for its Higher Education partner at the end of last year.

During the highly competitive procurement process, Liverpool Hope University stood out because of its extensive experience in training teachers and considerable expertise in curriculum design.

The partnership will be based on shared values. Strong support structures will be put in place for trainee teachers to support their wellbeing. Equality, diversity and inclusion is crucial in the education sector, and the two organisations are committed to ensuring their approach and implementation fosters greater inclusivity.

Professor Cate Carroll-Meehan, Dean of Liverpool Hope University’s School of Education, said: “Partnering with Ambition Institute is an important and exciting step forward for Liverpool Hope University.
