ENGLISH LITERATURE
Studying English Literature at Liverpool Hope puts you right in the heart of one of the UK’s most creative and culturally rich cities. You’ll explore fiction, poetry, drama, life‑writing, travel writing and global literature, discovering how stories shape identity, society, sustainability and wellbeing.
Teaching takes place in small, friendly groups led by research‑active academics whose work was rated ‘world‑leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ in REF 2021. You’ll develop confidence in analysing texts, debating ideas, and understanding how literature connects with real‑world issues, from politics and culture to digital media and creative industries.
Liverpool’s theatres, galleries, festivals and arts venues give you countless opportunities to experience literature in action. Throughout your degree, you’ll build creativity, critical thinking and communication skills that employers value across the modern job market. English Literature at Liverpool Hope is designed to help you grow as a reader, writer and thinker, preparing you for a future shaped by imagination and insight.
