Lecturer in Law - Ref: 2ALAW52

Job banner

As explained to UCU during collective consultation, we do not believe any colleagues currently at risk have a law qualification. As such, and given we already have student demand in Law that needs to be met, this post will be held open as a redeployment opportunity for two weeks until 17 July 2025 before being advertised externally.

Liverpool Hope University is growing its School of Law and Criminology, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to this development through innovative teaching and research within a supportive community.

Lecturer in Law

School of Law and Criminology

The School is expanding its diverse programme portfolio and enhancing its research-informed curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We prepare students for successful careers with:

  • LLB Honours degrees (3- and 4-year pathways).
  • BA Major Honours degrees combining Law with Criminology, Psychology, Business, and Politics.
  • Postgraduate LLM by Research programmes in Cyber Law and Policy, and International Migration and Refugee Law.
  • Proposed professional legal education through an LLM in Legal Practice.

As a Lecturer, you will help drive this growth and innovation, contributing to a School committed to real-world impact.

Your Role

We seek an enthusiastic Lecturer to teach foundational law subjects within English law, inspire students, and support their academic journey. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging teaching on at least two compulsory foundational law modules.
  • Supporting undergraduate and potentially postgraduate students.
  • Contributing to School development and academic life.
  • Leading module development in areas like Public Law, Family Law, or Business Law, aligned with strategic expansion.
  • Conducting research or knowledge exchange projects, supported by a generous research allowance.

This role offers a chance to advance your academic career and influence the future of legal education.

Candidate Profile

We welcome candidates who demonstrate:

  • Commitment to research-informed, engaging teaching.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative academic environment.
  • Expertise and enthusiasm for teaching foundational law subjects at the undergraduate level.

Candidates with legal practice experience are encouraged to apply.
