Mental Health Practitioner (part-time)
The University’s Student Life provision brings together a range of support services for students including counselling, mental health and well-being, disability support, and student finance.
This role sits within a well-established mental health and wellbeing team providing advice, ongoing support and self-help/risk management strategies for students presenting with mental health difficulties.
We are seeking to appoint a part-time Mental Health Practitioner to work for three days per week during university term-time, between September and May. The post is office-based at our Hope Park Campus, although attendance at other university campus locations may be required on occasion.
The successful candidate will comprehensively respond to a range of concerns related to mental health and wellbeing risk and vulnerability, with referrals coming from a range of internal and external sources.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate appropriate post-qualification experience of providing mental health assessments, safety planning, ongoing mental health support, and risk management strategies to clients with a wide range of moderate to complex mental health and wellbeing needs. Ideally, this will be within a Higher/Further education, NHS or Social Work setting or similarly demanding environment.
Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a relevant professional qualification/training in mental health (e.g. Community Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Social Work or similar).
